  • Vixs Visits... Bora Bora

    Jewel of the South Seas

Undoubtedly the most celebrated island in the South Pacific, Bora Bora is French Polynesia's leading lady. Her beauty is unrivaled and her fame, unwavering. Bora Bora is one of the few places on earth that everyone hopes to witness in their lifetime—and once you see it, you are forever enamored.

    The Allure

More than just a romantic ideal, Bora Bora is a romantic reality. It comes as no surprise that the island is an internationally acclaimed honeymoon destination. Our newlyweds who decide on a Bora Bora honeymoon often feel as though they have escaped to a private oasis tailored entirely to their special moment of marital bliss—and anyone in the midst of planning a wedding can relate to just how enticing that sounds.

    The Locale

Bora Bora may feel worlds away, but this South Seas splendor is well within reach. Where is Bora Bora, exactly? The island lies just northwest of Tahiti, less than an hour away by plane from Papeete. The airport is located on a small, separate part of the island known as Motu Mete. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a warm smile and fragrant flower lei and transferred by boat to your Bora Bora resort, meaning you hardly have to wait for your first encounter with the island's famously translucent lagoon.

The inevitable love affair with this island begins right before you touch down. The view from the plane window is a moment you will not soon forget. Have your camera in hand as you begin your descent and prepare for the moment when iconic Mount Otemanu comes into view. From that point on, each experience will only continue to exceed even your highest expectations.

  • Hattie Visits...The Chedi Muscat

It’s safe to say that here at Octavia Hix we love to travel. Whether it’s to the beautiful beaches of Mauritius or partying by the pool in Ibiza, we love to get our vay-cay on! It’s a chance to unwind, spend time with our loved ones, slip on our silk dresses and get inspired to design!
Last March, I was lucky enough to take a trip to the stunning Chedi Hotel in Muscat, Oman with my good friend Clarissa @cbyclarissa for a quick two-day mini-break.
This ultra-chic hotel is comprised of 158 beautifully designed guest rooms and villas, which sit among an elegantly landscaped 21-acre garden oasis – dreamy! The stunning location also includes six distinct restaurant and bars, a thirteen-suite Balinese spa, three swimming pools including the 103-metre Long Pool and a fabulous health club. Yes it’s true…we were in paradise!

On day two, after enjoying some incredible sushi at The Long Pool Cabana, I decided the hotel was the perfect setting to take some photographs of the Octavia Hix Novello silk dresses.
First I shot the Novello Short Dress in Marbled print at The Long Pool, where the colours of the dark wood, cool water and green grass complimented the silk print. This style is a favourite among our bolder customers who love to make a fashion statement.

I then shot the Novello Short Dress in Serpentine print down at the beachfront at one of the cabanas. Blue and white perfection…it’s easy to see why this is one of our best sellers.

Clarissa also modelled her favourite of all the Octavia Hix prints…the Egyptian.

In the evening, after a day of tanning and cocktails, we went for a delicious dinner at the Serai Pool Restaurant. Here, the dramatic pool views complimented the asian-inspired menu including dishes like the prawn tagine and the wagyu beef burger.

And just like that, after a fabulous two days my trip had come to an end.
I headed home to London refreshed and inspired!
